The "final" RFQ selection meeting was held on May 11th. Thanks to two and a half hours of public comment, nearly all of which wanted entertainment, with most mentioning a theme park and/or water park, two of the committee members instead put forth a motion to pause. As they used the exact same scoring sheets for the second round, it comes as no surprise that the Kiernan/Brees warehouse/transportation hub scored highest and would have won. It stands to reason that the next meeting will result in the same scores if only those two groups are scored. Score sheets are available for review here.

Meanwhile, TPC-NOLA, Inc., has yet to receive a response on our official protest, which was filed over 30 days ago. to the RFQ process today. As our submission illustrates, the initial scoring has been subjective, rather than objective, allowing bias and inequities to spoil the process. The delay in responding to our protest may also be interpreted as a denial of due process.

We believe that it would be a disservice to the residents of New Orleans East if we did not stand up and fight. Please continue to fight with us. Make them hear your voice.

So who are the "stakeholders" making the decisions? Currently, it is five City Hall employees. None of whom live in the area. Yet their opinions will determine what is best for the REAL stakeholders -- the community that surrounds the park.

We believe that the residents of New Orleans East are the TRUE stakeholders. It is your opinion that should matter most. You are equally qualified to act as judge, and should have the opportunity to preside over all six proposals.

Read over each of the proposals and see how each City Hall employee scored it. Compare that with how you would have scored them. Were the Selection Committee scores consistent between each proposal? Did it seem that each proposal was reviewed objectively?

Throughout this entire process, TPC-NOLA, Inc., has strived for transparency. With each City Hall iteration, we have posted our proposals publicly. This time has been no different. Unfortunately, City Hall has taken the opposite approach. At a public meeting on March 9th, City Hall officials declined to even say how many responses were received, let alone discuss merits. At the March 16th RFQ Selection Committee Meeting, the public was again left in the dark, with committee members giving brief overviews of the proposals before eliminating three, with no public input.

On March 22, Councilmember Cyndi Nguyen released a summary of the committee's top three. Again, the public is left in the dark as to the actual substance of the committee's favorite three.

TPC-NOLA, Inc., believes the public deserves the opportunity to review all six proposals. The community has had to live with this property, that the City continues to neglect, in their backyards for over 15 years. THEY are the stakeholders, not downtown interests or City Hall employees.

Via public record requests, we have obtained all 6 entries. Read them for yourselves, make your own decisions. None need to be eliminated as there is plenty of land for everything the community wants.

The TPC-NOLA, Inc., "Jazzland", team submitted our response to the latest/greatest/final? RFQ yesterday. This effort from the City was a bit different in that it really didn't ask for plans, just experience. We did include an overview, including a glimpse at our "20 Year Plan". Anything new for the City owned land? Yes. An esports stadium is now part of the overall plan, and is slated to be one of the first things that opens. The park just takes longer to build.

As always, our plans are as transparent as we can be at this juncture. Our financial backing must remain confidential, but details will be released during the evaluation period. As we have NEVER misrepresented, or over-represented, our financial information, we hope the City will ask for clarifications and further discussions. The final response can be viewed HERE. We continue to welcome input from community members, supporters, and fans.

Last night, city officials and their consultants presented the results of their study, "Reinventing Jazzland". While an option of turning it into nature trails and a place for bird watching were given, the basic conclusion of the study was that a Tourism use was the best option for the property.

We couldn't agree more. Help spread the word to BRING JAZZLAND BACK!

TPC-NOLA, Inc. proposes to re-open the park as a true celebration of Louisiana by connecting the dots of community, history, identity, and artistry in a living testimonial to our spirit and pride. Additionally, we propose to add a water park and mixed-use venue to the site, creating a true destination resort.

This proposal for Jazzland includes locally owned businesses and is working with area youth organizations to offer internship programs and art & music education programs at the park.

Families of New Orleans would like to be able to bring their children to the park again. The City is trying to attract more tourist by showing them that there is more to the City than Bourbon Street. Jazzland is a perfect fit to add to that campaign and to attract more families to visit.

The infrastructure is already there for it to be a THEME PARK. Historically, the park attracted over 800,000 guests annually while operating seasonally and competing with Astroworld. Today, the closest regional park is over 450 miles away and we plan to operate year-round.
